CAAP is an NGO focussed on Social Welfare Schemes

Who we are

Our Mission

Our Mission

We are an NGO working on Social Protection Schemes (SPS) in India. Our implementation activities (Project Connect) promote access to welfare schemes for eligible people from all sections of society, thus promoting ‘inclusive growth’. Our research initiatives collate evidence on the status, gaps, and latest trends in SPS across India.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Our Mission

CAAP focuses on Social Welfare schemes to:

  • Improve their last-mile delivery with the support of communities.
  • Build and curate evidence-based research to facilitate discussions amongst policymakers.
  • Contribute to, and create opportunities for, upward social mobility.

Our Vision

Our Mission

Our Vision

We envision communities where:

  • People have timely, fair, and easy access to welfare schemes.
  • Benefits of welfare schemes reach all people based on eligibility and need.
  • People’s trust in the government system is restored and they feel encouraged to overcome poverty.

What we do

Background

Despite India’s GDP per capita growing fivefold in 20 years, poverty reduction hasn’t kept pace. Social protection schemes are crucial for inclusive growth and addressing inequality, but gaps in their delivery must be addressed to fully realize their potential in reducing poverty.

The power of SPS

Social protection schemes have historically played a significant role in boosting living standards, reducing poverty, and driving economic development in countries across the world.

Current challenges remain unaddressed

India’s government has yet to update social protection schemes to be more responsive and transparent, resulting in higher poverty rates compared to similar economies. Addressing these issues is key to achieving inclusive societal growth, which in turn promotes national economic development.

Three pillars to deliver results

  • Project Connect, our fieldwork arm, links welfare schemes to areas of intervention.
  • Our research offers key insights and recommendations for SPS design and delivery in India.
  • Our communications team handle everything you see, hear, and read from us.
